I came up with this, because I actually just had a big one of my own recently. I’m a wrestler in CXWI and honestly, it was probably the best match I was booked in. lol
To summarize the story going in:
-I had the All-Star champion Mewtwo pinned in Mexico, but Mewtwo’s group, The Brotherhood, invaded the production truck and cut the broadcast right when I was about to win. Due to legal reasons, this meant Mewtwo kept the title.
-The Brotherhood did everything they could to avoid a rematch and punishment for what happened. As revenge for the incident, me and the Face group in CXWI, The Crew, planned ahead and trapped Mewtwo alone in a cage with me. I beat him down and I left with the title belt he screwed me out of after refusing to give a fair rematch.
-This led to Mewtwo and his men trying to get the belt back from me. They eventually did, but a major moment was me/Mewtwo accidentally knocking over Riolu at 1 show because we were both so focused over the belt.
-Eventually, COO Agumon grew guts and made me vs Mewtwo for a HIAC in the main event of Brazil.
-Mewtwo was undefeated in HIAC for years while it was my first one in CXWI, so theoretically, the Heel has an experience advantage.
I liked this match for a lot of reasons. 1st, the small details. The attire I wore was my normal gear but fit to the design of Aqua, my kayfabe girlfriend. Brotherhood attacked her/injured her, so it was a nice touch as I was fighting for revenge for her too. Especially since she came out for my celebration. The No Way Out arena is perfect because it fit the story of how Mewtwo/Brotherhood kept finding a way out of a rematch throughout the feud but tonight was not the night. It was also pretty cool for me to use my inspiration’s finisher during the match since it was my biggest match, but that’s just me though. lol Another major thing I liked.....The actual match wasn’t overbooked. CXWI has had some bad moments of overbooking matches or some feuds are too complicated/make no sense. This one was actually pretty basic when you think about it and that’s why I think it was the most effective.
The Heels screwed the Face out of a title win, they avoid a rematch for 5 months until there was no way out, both men fought for 45 minutes, no interference, no distractions, the Face won clean, he won the title, he ended the Streak, he finally got his revenge, and he celebrated with his official title belt and his best girl. That’s it.
I recommend checking it out. As the Finale to a 5 month long title feud, I thought it was pretty good and a great storybook ending/payoff, which I honestly wish I saw happen more often with wrestling in general these days.
